Guiding Every Child Towards Their Full Potential
Welcome to North Star SEND Specialist.
As an Independent Specialist Teacher and SEND Consultant, I believe that every child deserves to feel understood, valued and capable of success. My passion is helping children and young people feel empowered, nurtured, supported and truly listened to. When we take the time to understand each child’s unique strengths and individual needs, we can remove barriers to learning and create opportunities for them to flourish, both academically and emotionally.
At North Star SEND Specialist, I work in partnership with children, families and schools to provide personalised, practical support that helps every child access learning in a way that works for them. Every child is unique, and I believe the best outcomes are achieved when we work together to celebrate strengths, understand challenges and create the right support at the right time.

Supporting school staff is equally important to me. Having spent many years in the classroom myself, I understand the demands teachers and teaching assistants face every day. I am passionate about empowering school staff with the knowledge, confidence and practical strategies they need to deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching. Through a combination of universal approaches and bespoke classroom adaptations, I help schools create environments where every child can engage, achieve and reach their full potential.
My career in education spans more than 20 years, during which I have had the privilege of working as a Classroom Teacher, Early Years and Key Stage One Leader, Deputy Headteacher and SENCO. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of school life from many different perspectives and have reinforced my belief that getting the right provision in place can make a lifelong difference to a child’s confidence, wellbeing and future.
For the past nine years, I have worked as an Independent Specialist Teacher, supporting a wonderfully diverse range of children and young people across a variety of educational settings. It is a role I feel incredibly privileged to do, and one that continues to inspire me every day.
Above all, I believe in seeing the child before the need. Every child has strengths to celebrate, talents to nurture and potential to unlock. My role is to work alongside the people who know them best—their families, teachers and wider support team—to ensure they feel understood, included and empowered to thrive.
Whether I am working directly with a child, supporting a family or coaching school staff, my aim is always the same: to build confidence, strengthen understanding and create positive, lasting change.
Just as the North Star has long been a symbol of guidance and hope, my aim is to provide clear direction, reassurance and expert support, helping children, families and schools navigate their SEND journey with confidence.
Together, we can create the right support, at the right time, to help every child flourish.
